Ok, here is the list of the extensions on my firefox.
Application Basics
Name: Firefox Version: 26.0 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:26.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/26.0
Extensions
Name: Norton Toolbar Version: 2012.5.11.8 Enabled: false ID: {2D3F3651-74B9-4795-BDEC-6DA2F431CB62}
Name: Norton Vulnerability Protection Version: 11.1.1.5 - 3 Enabled: false ID: {BBDA0591-3099-440a-AA10-41764D9DB4DB}
Hi tyler456, I agree the Norton extensions would not cause this problem.
"reset firefox" may get rid of it (or it may come back, waiting to see if it's hiding out past a reset).
This thing apparently used to be fairly easy but I see more and more mentions of it being very tenacious, I think it's changing how it behaves. No idea how it got onto our home computers.
PS somebody recommended "blocksite" ---- read the reviews, one says:

Total BS, hadnt added anything to my addons in 6months, then after updating FF, this thing shows up with its WIPS page every time i load the browser, then adds insult by blocking pages if you decline to participate. SPYWARE ALERT. do not download and check registry to make sure it isnt STILL accessing your info after uninstalling
