When downloading word files (.doc & .docx) from the web version of dropbox with firefox, these are corrupt. I do not have this problem with the desktop version of dropbox, nor with other browsers (chrome, explorer, safari).

Hi fernandommv,
Sorry you are having a problem with Firefox.

I am not sure this will even turn out to be a Firefox problem. Are you able to create a very simple example of this to demonstrate, and for others to try to test.

For instance if you create a .docx and .doc file with the just two words hello test and save those as a public dropbox document do they work with other browsers but not Firefox ?

If so provide the links and maybe someone may be able to look into and sort out the problem.

If the problem relates to private documents only then you will need to take up the issue with dropbox there is probably nothing we can do to test and help. (You could post a link if the dropbox support forum is public and any question you ask is viewable without registering)

Are you downloading the files, or saving the page of the Firefox window?

Hello, Thanks for your quick reply. Actually john99 is right: I created the two word files, uploaded them, close the session and the browser, re-open it, downloaded the files and they appear to be normal. Strange, my private word files (either .doc or .docx) are corrupt when I download them, but only word files and only with firefox. @FredMcD, I download the files: when I click the file, it appears like a pop-up window and select "download" instead of "share"; then in the dialog box, I click "save" instead of "open" Thanks for your help, I'll contact dropbox see if they have any suggestions.

It is possible that anti-virus software is corrupting downloaded files or is interfering otherwise.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.

See:

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

1) The files you are trying to download are already bad.
2) The files are okay, but are not compatible to the program you are using. Or, the program you are using has a problem. Can you download a new program?
