NOTE: Firefox 4 and 5 are in the past. Firefox 6 is the current version. Beginning with Firefox 5, the prior version is "abandoned" and will receive no more security or stability updates. The security and stability updates are included in the new version that follows.

As for the screens, the developers of the Firefox help system/forum/knowlegebase are trying to make the system as user-friendly as possible and the work is an on-going process. You are presented with possible posts that match your question so that the few unpaid volunteers here are not excessively over-burdened with questions that have previously been asked and answered. We receive more questions than the few volunteers willing to devote their time to this forum can answer. The search functions on this forum are recognized as "lacking" in many respects and are currently under serious review and re-development. The "Ask a New Question" screens were designed to collect the appropriate information that the unpaid volunteers here need to assist you with finding a solution.

Now, on to your real question.

The developers of products that install toolbars into Firefox determine with what versions of Firefox those toolbar will work.

• Generally only the toolbar gets disabled in a new version of Firefox and the underlying application continues to function properly. You can post your question(s)/concerns on the Trend Micro forum below for clarification directly from the source (the developer).
• That Firefox version information is coded into the toolbars that they develop and only the developer can change that compatibility information after they complete their testing.

That said, all third-party developers know how/where to find the Firefox release schedule and how/where to find the test (beta) versions of Firefox to use in testing their products for up-coming releases. The beta testing will last several weeks, but it is the developers' responsibility to keep up with the changes in Firefox. Mozilla (Firefox) has made a concerted effort to encourage third-party developers, especially those producing security products (firewalls and AV/AS), to update their products prior to a new Firefox release. A couple of security product vendors were ready on 08-16-2011 when Firefox 6 was released. Several are still working on their updates and do not seem to be concerned about the happiness/unhappiness or the security of their paid or non-paying (free version) customers.

I am not a Trend Micro user and, therefore, do not know what function(s) its toolbar performs. Firefox has built-in Phishing and Malware protection (Safe Browsing) to help keep users away from known malicious websites:

Thank you SafeBrowser for your swift reply! I actually found you had answered me from Google enhanced SP while still searching for solutions. This pretty much answers my question (and may be the answer to other questions I had asked in FF forums). I did not see Trend Micro Web Protect listed in my FireFox add-on's, so I had not suspected it as any trouble until I saw a Google post referring to FF 3 point something. That is when I was sent to the post that had someone referring to TMWP being a FF add-on. I had not thought of it as an add-on because it is not listed in my FF add-on's. In theory that makes all apps on my PC considered to be add-on's. Not sure how it became considered an add-on. Any way, if anyone has found that TMWP DOES work with Fire fox 5, I'd appreciate it if they would acknowledge it. Apparently is does not work w/FF6 as of yet, but that does leave open it may work with FF5 since I've not seen any posts stating otherwise. Only references to FF3 and FF6. Maybe I am missing it?(any posts)? If this is the case maybe this is the culprit to many other posts?? It seems many users like to keep older versions of FF because they work better with the apps they currently like keeping (noticing many posts stating so). And just to acknowledge the hard work put in by such a small staff with volunteers I say many kudos; thanks to all there at FireFox for such good product and a staff willing to help us who use free open source /or just plain free apps (I try to help beta products often,but harder sometimes not knowing code) Much love and thanks your way!! @ SafeBrowser P.S. I cannot use FF6 on this donated PC because I am not the ADMIN. I cannot erase hard drive and start clean because I am attempting to retrieve sensitive info for the girlfriend of the now deceased owner/ADMIN. I can only pray those whom work upon FF6 will make it downloadable for non ADMIN users. The update pop-up is more than annoying (sorry to end with a complaint, cause I really do love Firefox and all you who work there!) I am kinda scared I can't update, the pop-up make's it sound like were totally doomed not to update?!?
