Google login dialog not working

I recently installed a fresh version of Thunderbird and all went well. Then I changed my gmail password (because it was old) and now Thunderbird does not prompt for my password. I get a Google dialog (in the Thunderbird browser) asking for my email but when I enter that and press next I am asked again for my email. I never get to my password and so I can't enter it for Thunderbird and now I can't use it to read any emails.

Something is not working but I can't tell what other than it seems to be on the Thunderbird side.

Chosen solution

I should add more details. This was done with 78.3.2 (64bit) which comes with Ubuntu 20.10.

Subsequent to posting the original problem I manually downloaded 78.4.0. In this version the dialog is working again but Google Calendars are not available! So, still not really working right, imho.

And after adding Google Calendar connector I got the calendar back too.

So my conclusion is that the default distribution with Ubuntu 20.10 is defective and a manual update is needed to get to a working version. Whether this is version specific or platform specific I have no idea but I have email and calendar so that's a good outcome.
