on the add on page in the right hand upper corner it says, thank your for helping our mission or similar, 2,763,841,327 add ons downloaded. What does this mean? Where are they downloaded?

Are you referring to the "Tools->Add-ons->Get Add-ons" or about:addons panel?

This is just mentioning how many Extensions and Themes and such have been installed or downloaded by Firefox users.
