Toolbar icons - can't do icons only and icons too small
General Complaint
SO VERY frustrating to have to deal with changes that are completely unnecessary and unwanted!! This looks like Chrome now. If I wanted to use Chrome, I'd use Chrome!! Why does Firefox feel it is necessary to fix a working watch??
Can't Get Rid of Icon Text
Although the Toolbar Customize option is set to Icons Only (default), the text will not go away and leave me with only icons.
I had a custom toolbar (with my own selection of buttons) and it survived the upgrade to FF29, but after I installed Classic Theme Restorer, I lost it again (which had been a problem with FF28 as well, where I'd lose it suddenly on startup and had to rebuild it).
I rebuilt the toolbar after upgrading to 29 and it showed icons only at first. But I repositioned the new toolbar among the another toolbars and that's when the icon text insisted on appearing with the icons. I can't get rid of the text now.
Icon Size Too Small
The new icons are microscopic! Even when I have set the size to the largest I can find, in all settings I can find, they're at least half the size they used to be.
I installed the Classic Theme Restorer, but setting the nav icons to large only applies to the top row of icons (where the address bar is), not to added-on toolbars or manually added toolbars. Text zoom applies only to the web page being viewed, not to Firefox itself. (Also, the large nav buttons are barely visible and seriously ugly; they're not simply a larger version of the default icons.)
How can I bring back the usual size of icons from the previous version??
Thanks in advance for the help.

1. install Classic Theme Restorer 2. on top right of firefox click 3 stripes button and then customize 3. at the bottom you will see settings for displaying only icons instead icons and text. There is also small buttons etc. These are all added by Classic Theme Restorer. It also fixes invisible inactive tabs problem and tiny refresh button problem.

Hi _Marcel, thanks for getting back to me. As mentioned in my initial post, I have already installed Classic Theme Restorer. At some point (before installing CTR? After?) I did see the "only icons" etc option buttons and I made sure it was set to "Icons Only" but for some reason the only button there now is to "Reset Defaults." When I still saw the "Icons Only" reclicking that selection didn't get rid of the text.
I do recall seeing an option to select "small icons" or "normal icons" but nothing about "large icons" in that set of options. I had it set to "normal" but they are far too small to comfortably see. The fact that it is insisting on including the text is a good workaround, since it helps me identify which icons are there, but it also takes up a LOT more space so it limits what I can put there.
Okay, I finally got the text to go away, but I had to dismantle the old toolbar and build it again. It seems the icons wound up in the Google Lite toolbar space.
REQUEST: It would be *really* helpful to have a clearer way of moving, adding or deleting custom toolbars, and to show which toolbar space we're moving icons into.
So the text problem has been solved, but I still need to be able to increase the size of the icons. I've seen a few other posts about this, so I'm not the only person having trouble with this. Is a fix coming for this?
starhugger,
Did you get a solution to the tiny icon problem? I do have a solution via the Classic Theme Restorer if you are still waiting. Click on the TOOLS menu. Select Classic Theme Restorer. Select General UI. Half-way down the page is "Set Navigation Toolbar Attribute". Click on the down arrow. There is an "iconsize=large" option that will restore the icons to a visible size.
- Hope this works for you***
That said, I might try the above solution. I'd really like to be able to continue to use FireFox and get beyond version 18, but I'm not willing to give up the layout (Icons and text) I depend on. Firefox could be loyal to customers and continue to offer what we come to Mozilla for, instead of trying to be an imitation Chrome. Google does the best Chrome. Mozilla need to be confident that Firefox is the best Firefox.
