V29 clear history when firefox closes deletes sessionstore.js when closed, but next time you open Firefox it does not always create a new sessionstore.js file a
Recently Closed Tabs' broken in V29
In V29 of Firefox, at times the History and 'Recently Closed Tabs' sections are not available. It appears that if you had selected the 'Clear History When Firefox Closes' option, the sessionstore.js file is deleted when Firefox closes. However, when you next open Firefox, and open, close tabs, a new sessionstore.js file is created sometimes, but not always. And when Firefox does not make a new sessionstore.js file, the History and 'Recently Closed Tabs' is unavailable.
It seems to work okay if you do not select the option of 'Clearing History When Firefox Closes' as the sessionstore.js file is not deleted when Firefox closes, and the history works okay the next time you open Firefox.
Any fix available? I do prefer V28
Never had this problem in Version 28.

Are you using Firefox 29.0.1? If not please update as it may fix this issue.
Which items are selected in the "Clear history when Firefox closes" settings?
Did you try to enable them one by one to find which is causing this issue?
No I didn't try that. Everything worked perfectly fine in V28. Upgraded to Version 29 and now it does not work. V29 is the problem. But it was to clear everything except 'Saved Passwords'
A browse of the forum shows that the 'Clear History when Firefox Closes' causes other problems, like hanging the firefox process.
This is Version 29.0.1 That is the problem. Everthing worked in V28, now broke in V29.0.1
Now, sometimes Firefox WILL create a new sessionstore.js file, but other times it will not, and then you can't open the tabs you had closed.
Seems to work okay if you uncheck the 'Clear History when Firefox Closes' , but what is the sense in having that option if they broke it in V29.
