Problem of changing paper size

Hello. I'm writing from Japan.

My question is about printing. I mainly use A4 size paper, but sometimes use B5. B5 is a paper size based on Japanese traditional paper. Although A4 is major in Japan now, B5 is still used and I sometimes print with B5 paper and bind to B5 file. B5 is smaller than A4, but sized 1:1.4 ratio same as A4.

Now, the problem is: "Although I change paper size from preview window, the change will not reflected immediately and I have to print at least one page with old settings to fix the change."

I'm so glad if you solve this problem. It'll be more useful. Or, can you tell me other good solution or the way of changing settings?

Thanks a lot.

Penyelesaian terpilih

Use the keyboard command { Ctrl + P } to initiate printing, to bypass Print Preview.

Bug 1007779 was filed about the Print button opening Print Preview rather then going directly to the print dialog.

I tried the way you taught me and no problem was occurred! Thank you for telling!

But, I often use "Page Edit" Add-on and do Edit -> Preview -> Edit-> ... Then, paper size is very important and so if this is reported as a bug, I wait and expect improvement!

That Bug was added to a list of 80+ Australis regression bugs that still remain. I suspect that until someone can pinpoint the exact date / build that the code was changed (when the regression came about), and maybe show them the exact regressive code change, they aren't going to fix it any time soon.

That said, whichever way you print - via the toolbar Print button or the Print Edit context menu item (which is what I use) - when you use the Print button in the Print Preview window, you are then given the "native print dialog" box which has the Properties button. ["native" to the operating system] Properties can be used to change the Paper Size, too, after leaving the Preview window. The main difference with using that Properties button is that it takes effect immediately and is a one-time change. When you change Paper Size in Firefox prefs, that size becomes to new default until it is changed again from within Firefox.
