I use Alt + M - M - R which stands for

Message menu -> Move -> Recent

ALL THE TIME. Imagine my surprise when i installed the v38.1.0 update to find that Alt-M now binds to...

Opening web browser to https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-calendar-integration#thunderbird:win8:tb38

So, you changed my keyboard shortcut to take me to a page I dont care about.

And i can't change keyboard shortcuts without using an UNSUPPORTED addon, right?

Speaking of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/keyboard-shortcuts, that help page is not updated to reflect this new Alt + M binding.

Can you explain the rationale of unilaterally changing people's shortcuts without having any way to set them back? It's frustrating.

EDIT: Disabling the (unrequested, unwanted, unauthorized) LIghtning addon (extension) and restarting restores Alt + M to it's previous function--bringing up the Message menu.

Hi montgomery_minds, I just updated to version 38.1.0 (with the Lightning calendar extension) and alt-m-m-r still gets me to Message->Move to->Recent. The keyboard shortcut has not been changed, and it doesn't appear that Lightning is interfering with it. Norio

For me, re-enabling Lightning now, does NOT affect Alt+M like it did before. Now even with Lightning enabled Alt+M brings up message menu like it always has.

Perhaps it was a first-run binding only. Norio, did you try on your very first invocation of Thunderbird after v38.1.0 upgrade and/or the Lightning install?

What addons do you have? Keyconfig? Any which might affect keybindings?

I have only 1 extension (now), Lightning.

I have several plugins, all disabled except for Flash (which is now outdated).

Also i'm on Windows 7 64bit.

Hi montgomery_minds, You know, I too had problems with version 38.1.0 right after the upgrade. I might have had issues with key bindings but was more focused on other oddities (responding to emails didn't have right address in To: field, creating emails filled in To: fields without my input, etc). I found that re-starting in safe mode and then re-starting in regular mode got rid of all the issues. Maybe that took there of the key bindings issue too so I never noticed it...

I am also on Windows 7 x64, and I have a dozen extensions enabled.

Good luck, Norio

I found that by pressing and releasing the Alt button I can then press M to get a drop down menu.

For me that is an easy fix. Different then it used to be but if it works, I won't knock it.
