Importing from Microsoft Outlook 2010 to Thunderbird
I would like to import contacts and mails from Microsoft Outlook 2010 (as part of MS Office 2010) to Thunderbird, but selection for Outlook is gray! MS Outlook is my default mail client at the moment. OS here is Windows 10 Enterprise, with the latest updates.

Thunderbird import for Outlook broke a long time ago and has not been fixed. I think if you install Version 17 you will get a good import. Then install the latest version again after the import is complete.
Download here http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/17.0.9esr/win32/en-US/ I will assume a US version will do for the import.
Thank you for the information Matt. I tried to recover Contacts from MS Outlook 2010 Professional.
Compatibility is not the main concern of software developers. You can't imagine the time lost in searching help, just to find methods that do not work at all. I encountered already before your solution going back to old versions. Maybe it is the best, I don't know
Thunderbird disappoints in such things, certainly if you expect the latest version to be better functionally.
I now have created an Excel workbook for all my contacts. The only solution I guess which might be freestanding available at all times regardless the mailserver.
Before using any paid tool try to go by the traditional method to convert Outlook PST file to Thunderbird.
Recently read this article which described the Manual method to export Outlook emails to Thunderbird. You will find here the 3 Ways to export Outlook Emails to Thunderbird and with ease.
