I need to use Thunderbird on two computers - how can I sync them, as one can sync Firefox between several computers?

My XP is my main computer, but I have to use a recycled Windows 7 - upgraded to Windows 10 laptop to access links in my e-mails or the Internet since most of the Internet uses programs that no longer support Windows XP.

I have four e-mail accounts in Thunderbird. All use G-Mail (which I detest) - server name: imap.google.com - for each different e-mail.

Gmail sent out an e-mail saying that my Gmail account wasn't secure, so I selected in Gmail to turn off less secure access - and I can no longer access that e-mail account in Thunderbird. I went back and changed it to allow less secure access, but I still can't access that account in Thunderbird. It gives an error message that I have attached. I cannot access that link from my XP (times out). When I typed it in on my Win10 computer it had a lot of useless information that did not help.

Can anyone help me with either problem?

Thank you so very much!

You use IMAP instead of POP to see the same email on each computer.

The error says log into your account via the web mail interface. Did you do that?

Gmail has been conning lots of people to turn off that option lately.

I cannot get through to the Internet address on my XP or on my Win10 computer. I have already tried.

My tech friend set up my Thunderbird years ago and the IMAP works great for all of my other accounts except for the one that I changed the access on - even though I turned it back to less secure later.

I don't understand the difference between IMAP and POP and don't know how to change it, or why I should.

Gmail is really bad. Thunderbird is terrific!

I wish that I knew how to set it up to sync on both my computers;

So - what do I do?

I have no idea what that means.

That is what a Google search is for.

Gmail is an email provider. Thunderbird is email client software. Another subject to Goggle.

You make sure your email accounts are added to Thunderbird as IMAP and not POP.

1. When I typed the website address that the Gmail error message told me to try on my XP computer, I never got to the website - it just timed out every single time that I tried. https://support.google.com/mail/accounts/answer/78754 - as illustrated in the attached jpg image of the original posted question.

When I typed the website address on my Win10 computer I got to a generic problem/answer page that provided no real help.

2. I did a Google search on IMAP and POP, as suggested, so understand the difference. Thank you.

3. Thank you for clarifying about the difference between what Thunderbird is and what Gmail is. I also did a Google search on each term to help me understand the difference.

4. I checked Thunderbird - under "Tools", "Account Settings, "server name" as imap.googlemail.com; the "Server TypeP is IMAP Mail Server. Also under "Local Folders", "Outgoing Server (SMTP) each e-mail address is listed with "SMTP before the e-mail address, a space, the e-mail address, space, -, space, smtp.googlemail.com.

The only e-mail that does not work in Thunderbird is the one that I changed the access level on (and then changed back to less). The other e-mail addresses are working perfectly.

Do you have any ideas of how I can fix the one e-mail that I messed up by trusting Google?

Thank you so very much for your help.

Also - do you know if I can have Thunderbird synced between two computers like Firefox is? My tech friend had it set up on the Windows 10 computer (when it was still Windows 7), but that computer crashed and I had to go to a computer repair guy who was able to make a boot USB drive and save the info on my hard drive. However I had to reinstall all my programs and never did Thunderbird since I don't know how. The original tech friend is too busy to help me any more.

Thank you.
