[Locked - please Ask a New Question] My printer won't print when I run Firefox
I cannot print from the internet when using Firefox. My printer prints fine when I use safari. To print from Firefox I have to copy and paste to a Word document. My printer used to print just fine from firefox, but it suddenly stopped.
This happened

It's been more than four days and no clear answer from you guys at Firefox Help. What are we suppossed to do, when we encounter a problem like the one I have been trying to solve "my printer won't print from Firefox"? Your explanations are all geared to Windows users and I AM A MAC OS X user. I have been a good costumer for now almost TEN YEARS and I am starting to seriously think I am going to look for another browser if you are not willing to help me. I need to print my stuff. This is not just for reading. Thank you. Hoping you will send me a clear email ASAP

See if anything in this KB article helps you: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Problems_printing_web_pages
I tried the suggestions but still no luck.
Firefox stopped printing. Safari still prints. If I cannot resolve I will have to abandon Firefox
Same problem here. Firefox not printing, have to switch to Safari to print. very annoying!! Any help available
I cannot print with Firefox, but with Safari. It started two days ago. Before it was fine. During years it was working fine. Could you explain me how to solve this problem.

Without more information from you, how are "we" supposed to help you?
Did you read the article that I hyperlinked? What in that article did you do to try and fix that issue? Are you sure the correct printer is even selected?
Sorry, I am using a Mac OSX 1.5.8.
Your explanations were for Windows. In my Firefox Preferences, I do not have access to choosing or selecting a printer. It seems to work automatically. Every time I try to print from Firefox the preview is empty. Safari shows the preview correctly. Firefox has changed two or three days ago, maybe the printing problems come from this.
It prints to "saved to file" what file???

Paz,
According to this help page, there is a dialog box that allows you to select a specific printer to use. https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Printing+a+web+page?s=printing&as=s#Printing_a_web_page
All the helpers here are Firefox users, who volunteer their time to help other users. Most of us "helpers" don't use Mac OSX, but rather use Windows or Linux. What this forum needs is some support volunteers who use Mac OSX to step up and help out here a little.
My problem with not printing on MAC OS 10.6.4 since update to Firefox 3.6.8 was solved after running about:config and following the first recommendation to Reset printer. Thank you, the-edmeis
Don't know if this will solve your problem, but it did mine. I was paying bills on line and printing out receipts. Suddenly the printer would not print. I share a network printer and it would work on other computer. After checking settings and all the other stuff I could think of, I tried clearing my browser history. Lo and behold my printer now works. Hope this helps.
I had a similar problem - print routine started normally, but then it asked me where I wanted to save the page: so I saved it and the page then popped up as a pdf, in my pdf reader. I could print from that with no trouble, and while it was infuriating, I couldn't make the time to fix it. Well here I am reading this while looking for something else, and I take a look at the Print box, and lo and behold, the printer has been reset from my printer to Microsoft Office Document Image Writer. If you knew my views on M****sh*t, you would appreciate that I would never do this myself. I suspect this wretched Firefox helper of Microsh*t has been doing things - every time I open Firefox nowadays, it says that Firefox is not my regular browser and do I want, etc., so I click yes because it's quicker than investigating, but:
a) check what is shown as the installed printer in your print box, and b) if you have Microsoft's firefox Helper, disable it - I'm going to try that and see what happens.
I have the same problem, on my iMAC, all of a sudden firefox stopped printing when it had no problem before. It is frustrating not to be able to print anything. Please advise,
Thank you.
I solved my own problem, went to Safari. Too frustrating to try to find a solution or not print when you need something. Thank you.
Running Mac OS 10.6.4 with Firefox 3.6.10 and an HP Officejet Pro 8500. Installed all the updates for the HP drivers. Firefox will not form an image in the preview screen, nor will it print an image. (in other words, i can't form a pdf, either). Safari works fine, so i know that it is something with Firefox. No mention of this on the HP site, except for problems noted with faxing and duplex printing using HP printers with the Mac OS.
Printing E-mails: Open the E-mail you want to print. Use the Print Icon in the Email program. Don't use the File/Print in Firefox. For example in Hotmail (see image), the Print Icon is on the top-middle of the page.
If you can't find the Print Icon on other Email servers, open the E-mail you want to print and press these three keys: [CONTROL] [SHIFT] [P].
I use Firefox 3.0.17. Should work in older/newer versions.
tried these suggestions but "reset" didn't work for me. I can print from Chrome and from Safari without problems. No printer specified in the about:config dialog as far as I can tell. Not sure how to specify a printer. Will look at your next suggestion.
tried this path also. My HP Photosmart is the selected printer. No problems there, but when I cancelled out of this, I got the following script reference with the message that it failed to complete:
Script: file:///Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/modules/NetworkPrioritizer.jsm:175
use another browser until this can get fixed. no universal solution has yet been proposed that solves this for me. I've switched to Chrome and Safari in the meantime. I suppose you could try Explorer, too, if you dare!
