WHY DID YOU DESTROY MY FIREFOX SYNC INFORMATION
I needed to use Firefox Sync recently to keep all my saved passwords from my old hard drive for a reformat.
I've reformatted and needed to recover these passwords to I went in to the options and found I NEEDED THE OLD DEVICE TO RECLAIM MY SETTINGS.
and When I chose the options that claimed I had lost that device IT ERASED ALL MY STORED SETTINGS AND PASSWORDS FROM THE FIREFOX SYNC SERVER.
WHAT THE HELL KIND OF SERVICE IS MOZILLA RUNNING. YOU'VE RUINED EVERYTHING WITH YOUR TERRIBLE AND UNUSUABLE SERVICE.
THIS IS A TERRIBLE LACK OF CONVENIENCE THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN MADE CLEAR UPFRONT ON HOW THIS SERVICE WAS MEANT TO BE USED. THE FACT THAT THE SERVICE FORCED ME TO COMPLETELY ERASE MY OLD INFORMATION IS IMPOSSIBLY DISSERVICEABLE AND JUST INCOMPREHENSIBLE THAT THERE COULD NOT BE A STRAIGHT-FORWARD PATH TO RECLAIMING MY STORED DATA.

Sounds like you didn't have your Sync Key / Recovery Key when you went to restore your data, and the Sync server deleted your data as a security precaution when you created a new Sync Key.
Without the correct Sync Key your data is useless, that Key is the encryption / decryption key for your data. Also, without the correct key Firefox wouldn't understand the data that would have been sent from the Sync server, if the system wasn't set up to protect your data as well as it does by clearing it when someone triggers a new Sync Key request.
BTW, the Sync service really wasn't intended for the purpose of saving your data prior to a reformat, although with the account name, the password, and the Sync Key it does happen to work for that type of "backup" purpose, but isn't recommended.
