In the add-on section, it shows I have a previous version, but the add-on I seeing showing is the current version. How can I get the updated version to stay

I regularly check my add-ons for updating, In the add-on section it showed I needed to update video lan media player 2.0.8 version. When I checked what my current version, it shows I do have 2.0.8. When I go into programs, it shows the current version. On the add-on page, it shows the VLC plugin versions to be 2.0.6, the previous version. I have installed the newer version two times, but nothing changes. It continues showing I need to update this program.
