I have used Thunderbird for ages but since the latest update I cannot receive emails. I can send them but they they do not move to my sent folder and I cannot move emails to archive. Initially, I also lost all my calendar appointments but I am slowly sorting that. However, my laptop is running Thunderbird with no problems, so it is not my ISP.

I have tried changing "security.tls.version.min" to 1 but that had no effect, so I have changed it back to the original figure.

Where do I go from here? any suggestions would br much appreciated.

hi, based on your provided problem info: if you're using "OAuth2" auth-method, SSL/TLS in TB , then please remove saved password from TB , remove old cookies which have your mail-server's domain-name , restart TB , enable cookie accept option (if not enabled already) , goto Inbox or Sent , again go thru OAuth verification process & it will create a new OAuth cookie . Multiple ISP/MSP has began to update/upgrade their server/system, they are working on new features OAuth, Permitted App List, Secure Mail Key, etc so mail server side may be slow , as things are queued & not-instant. if you're using "Secure-Mail-key" (SMK) code & "Normal-Password" auth-method, SSL/TLS in TB , then please make sure, you're not using same smk code on multiple apps . avoid using mail web-access password in TB, use smk code as password . goto your mail web-access site & find the option to create/generate SMK code, use that in your TB.

(so smk based access is bit faster than oauth2, for now , until isp/msp improves their server side)

viewing emails in TB is done by either IMAP or POP3, so please check again, if you have specified correct IMAP/POP3 server address in IMAP/POP3 mail-account.

please read/scan these pages multiple times (first) , and make a backup of your "Profiles" folder (second) , then follow/do what is you want & appropriate:

you may do any of these options : downgrade, or use second-TB or transfer data from old-profile : info here (please find my answers) also read/check other answers.

goto downgrade info page directly.

ISP/MSP(s) are upgrading/changing various features in server-side, see what new things users now have to do . (pls see my & other user's answers).

Thank you so much for your reply. It may take me a little time, as I am a fairly competent user but not great on the technology side. I was a research manager but had a brilliant IT manager. Comms always seemed to me to be a black art! Personal computing started for me with the arrival of the IBM PC and email with dial-up!

I am using SSL/TLS in TB.

atErik I followed your suggestion, "goto Inbox or Sent, again go thru OAuth verification process". I reinststed my Sent password but could reinstall my Inbox password, as the busy blue kept spinning.

I then recieved the link from Wayne Mery. It immediately struck me that I use ESET/NOD32 on my PC but use BT Virus Protection (McAfee) on my laptop, which does not have a TB problem.

Wayne, having spent days on my TB problem, your link solved it in 10 minutes! I would never have thought of NOD32 as the cause. Many thanks for your advice.
