With the newest version of Firefox, there seems to be 100's of Cache files created each day.

When I used to run CCleaner, it took about 15 seconds to run to clear out the data. Now it takes 15 to 20 MINUTES to clear mostly 100's of Cache files. What's up with that?

I'm running Windows 7 64 bit on a fast machine (4.2GHz) with a Samsung SSD as the main drive.

What do you know or suggest?

Thank you for your help.

Thank you for the suggestion. It almost worked. But it didn't get saved. I changed it, restarted Firefox and checked. Always the same.

I had to go into the options menu/advanced and override the cache size value. Then when I looked in about:config, the Cache value was set to what I told it to do in the options menu.

Thanks for your help.

You can change the size of the Firefox cache. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Enter about:config into the Firefox address bar
  2. Click the I promise button
  3. Locate the browser.cache.disk.capacity integer
  4. Change the value to the amount of kilobytes that you want Firefox to use or right click the value and set it to the default
Note: You may need to restart Firefox for the changes to be applied.

Question for someone... Why has this become a problem in the newest Firefox? All I did was update the program, with no option changes, and it started happening.
