Why is the browser auto-complete data not cleared when I clear my history? So much for privacy I guess.

Hi, you should be able to clear all the autocomplete data by doing the following:
- Click the menu button , choose History, and then "Clear Recent History...".
- Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
- Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
- From the details list, check Form & Search History and uncheck everything else.
- Now click the "Clear Now" button.
For more information, take a look at the following article: Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox
Please let me know if this solved your problem. Thanks!
this does not solve the issue at all. I had already done that. basically I am reporting a bug, but could not find a place on the website to do that
thanks

Hi, is this referring to login data or auto-complete for other non-login related items?
If the former, sorry for misunderstanding what you had meant. See Password Manager - Remember, delete and edit logins and passwords in Firefox for how to do that.
when typing in a URL in a browser window, there is an auto-complete feature in the text area. when the history is cleared, the auto-complete items remain
So to make sure I am understanding correctly -- if you clear the "Browsing & Download History" (with time set to "Everything"), will the suggested pages remain?
yes, everything in history for all time is cleared from the history, but those items remain
You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database (bookmarks, history) in the Firefox profile folder.
the problem is, clearing history, does not, well, clear history. this is a bug for the browser that claims to treasure customer privacy
