I have a VPN and I'm trying to watch my reg. shows on itv.com - they now require you to enable ads and disable/remove any ad-blockers you may have. Every time I try to watch my show now, I get the message stating I can't watch anything until it's disabled. The problem is, I don't have any ad-blockers on my computer/browser. I've searched, and there are none. I've tried enabling pop-ups, etc. for itv.com to no avail. Does anyone know what could be causing this issue? Is it something I can fix within the browser options (like it says I should be able to do)? Please help.

Are you allowing third party cookies? Many sites now split their content over multiple servers on different domains, so you may need to allow cookies for those servers in addition to the cookies for the main site. This article describes how to find that setting: Websites say cookies are blocked - Unblock them.

It's also possible that a different extension, perhaps something related to privacy, is creating this issue. Could you try the site in Firefox's Safe Mode? That's a standard diagnostic tool to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings). More info: Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode.

You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using

Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset)

Any difference?

I just noticed you mentioned a VPN service. Does the site work in other browsers (such as IE10) using the same service?

Hello,

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions and some Preferences.

  • Open websites will not be saved in Firefox versions lower than 25.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!

Thank you.

I never used it much in internet explorer, so I don't remember if it was working before there or not but I think it was.. stopped working in both browsers. The cookies thing did not work nor did the safe mode thing. However, I just reset firefox and it did work, but I'm skeptical that it'll stay this way. It's still not working on internet explorer, that's why I'm wary. Any idea why this happened? I hope this fixes it for good (thank you both for your help, so much!), but I guess I won't know until the next time I shut down the computer & restart again..
