I have tried all the suggestions but nothing has worked. The address I am having a problem with is - http://search.us.com/v/2/?guid={E78976D0-7515-46B4-81AA-521F157CC348}&serpv=17.

I have also done a rescue back to yesterday when I didn't have this problem. That didn't help either.

Please help as it is getting very annoying.

You can open the about:config page via the location bar and search for prefs that refer to search.us.com and reset user set (bold) search.us.com prefs via the right-click context menu to the default value.

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

I've had this before, the easiest way I got rid of it was by installing and running a wonderfully free anti-malware tool called Malwarebytes. I'd definitely recommend running a full scan of your computer, then rebooting afterwards.

You can find Malwarebytes here: https://www.malwarebytes.org/ Just click on the Downloads tab and the free version is at the top.

Let me know if it got rid of it!

Hi and thank you Switchback. I have done as you suggested but sad to say it didn't get rid of it. Got rid of a lot that my Paid for software missed but still no luck.

Thank you anyway I'll keep trying. Waihekejo

Sorry to hear that didn't help. I'm not giving up yet though. ;)

Try this, hit Start and go into your Control Panel. Then into Uninstall programs. Is search.us in there? It maybe why Malware couldn't fully get rid of it. Also, think back to anything that you've installed recently and try uninstalling it, it may contain the malware.

At any rate, after trying that, go into the Help tab of Firefox and click on Troubleshooting Information, then the reset Firefox button. Don't worry, it remembers all of your bookmarks and such, it just puts things back into default.

Hopefully this will get rid of it. Glad to hear Malware cleared up other things for you though, it really is a beautiful little program. I suggest keeping it wholeheartedly. Anti-Virus protection doesn't 100% stop things so Malware takes care of anything that happens to get through the shield.
