after upgrade to windows 10, "check for new messages every xx minutes" not working

I can click get new messages and they are retrieved, but thunderbird does not automatically get new messages. I've tried changing the time for auto checking.

Upgrade to win10 from win7 went smooth and everything but the seems to be working but the "get new messages every..."
